Abstract

A. H. Davis describes prairies, timber, and conditions as he travels from Kansas City to Shawnee Mission. Outraged by the tales of murder, burning of houses, lawlessness and hardships, Davis berates the Buchanan administration for not taking more positive measures to correct these conditions.
